STRESS-FREE STRATEGIES FOR COPING WITH ANYTHING THAT LIFE THROWS AT YOU!
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you are, or even what you do professionally, one thing most of us have in common is that we have all had to deal with stress at some point in our lives.
Each of us handles stress differently. Some people drop their bundle big time! They get angry, spit the dummy and the whole world knows they’re having a meltdown (that’s MOST people just so you know), and on the other side of the coin are others who don’t seem fazed by anything that comes their way, they ride a wave of stress with a big smile on their dial and feathers unruffled (THIS is rare!).
Regardless of how you handle it – stress is NOT good for you. We know stress is harmful to our health. It is said to be bad for our hearts and can compromise our immune systems. One thing is for sure, we’d all be happy to kick stress to the curb!
Unfortunately that’s probably not going to happen - if it’s not us creating the stress ourselves, then it’s something or someone else.
Regardless of where the stress comes from, we need to have some coping strategies for when it lands on our doorstep.
Like you (probably) I’ve definitely had a fair few doses of stress. Over time (and after having lived a few more years) maturity, education and awareness has helped me cope better with whatever life has thrown at me… I’ve found ways of dealing with stress and not letting it get to me. HOPEFULLY these strategies that I use will also help you to kick stress to the curb or at the very least minimize it so you have far more happy days!
1. Be Positive. The more you fill your head with positivity, the more you will attract good things into your world. This is the best form of stress prevention I know. The law of attraction is always at work – so make sure you’re doing everything in your power to make things work for you, not against you. The more positive things that happen in your world – the less stress!
2. Plan Ahead. I hear a lot of people get stressed when they’re driving from one place to another. MOST of the time this is due to them leaving too late from their origin. If you leave enough time to get from one place to another – guess what?? No stress!
3. Breathe. Take a DEEP breath, and breathe out the stress – sometimes the simple things in life are often the best.
4. Eat well. Some foods can literally put you in a bad mood, so remember the simple rule; fresh is best, raw foods are even better!
5. Sleep. Not enough sleep is enough to stress anyone out. After just having had twin babies– I lived on less than an hours sleep a night for many a night (many months actually!). But you can’t stress about it – it is what it is, you have to let go of the thought of not having enough sleep and get on with it OR just get more sleep!
6. Schedule. Don’t over commit yourself to the point where you have WAY too much on your plate. Keeping a schedule of what you need to do in your day will eliminate being overwhelmed.
7. Lighten Up. Sometimes I have to ask myself – does it REALLY matter? Will it be something I think about on my deathbed? If it isn’t let it go – it’s not worth the worry.
8. Faith. Trust that all things happen for a reason. Don’t hang onto things so tightly – all things must change and if you have faith that things are happening for a reason you’ll see things with a different perspective and reduce your stress.
I hope these little tips help make your day a little more pleasant and stress free!
